CIRCUMVENT

Some Japanese architects who we met at the One Night Design Salon came to visit our little office. They came with their luggages on the way to the airport. We chatted aimlessly about this and that in this casual setting. We could understand each other since there are some design values which we share in common (”there are many kinds of architects, many types of designers”, said Satoko during the Salon). We were glad to talk to them because it was getting a little lonely here in Shanghai. And so we begin to plot a kind of “event” where there are no planned subject matter, no audience, no time limit, just a few speakers engaging with each other around a table, and no publications post that. Hey wait … that’s what people do normally!

Another way to circumvent this “event” business is, well, the in-depth interview (not to be mistaken with other fastfood 10-questions versions). See this excellent example from Lebbeus Woods here.
