we will be taking part in this december’s shenzhen hong kong bi-city biennale with our shanghai shared housing proposal.

our installation is a small room made of plasterboard walls; painted white both outside and inside.
there will be a 1.8m x 1.8m table partly inside, partly outside.
you look at texts and 1:50 scale floor plan of our shared housing printed on this table.

inside, the 3m x 3m white room is only 1.5m high.
you stoop or put your head into several 0.6m x 0.6m holes in the ceiling.
you can see someone reading the drawing on the table outside.

the ceiling holes are courtyards of a model at 1:5 scale.
popping your head in these courtyards, you will enter into the world of the proposed shared housing looking at the insides of homes through windows and doors while listening to faint sounds of domestic activities.
